aghr enters the world of horse powered reading
We are thrilled to announce that we will be offering Experiential Equine Assisted Learning and Horse Powered Reading beginning in June 2021! Our Director, Deborah Greene-Dellvon, will be completing a course to become a Horse Powered Reading Facilitator. This amazing course is being offered through Cross P Ranch and Concordia University. This program is developed by Dr. Michele Pickel, offering Equine Assisted Learning to use in the classroom or EAL arena setting. This course will adhere to EAGALA standards, and will make reading skills visible and physical for all students. By becoming a HPR Facilitator, Deborah hopes to break-through social-emotional barriers through active engagement in literacy activities using some of the rescue horses/ponies in our organization as Teachers and interactive Support Providers to youth in need. We are very excited about the impact that our senior equines can make on our community and look forward to some summer activities involving Horse Powered Reading. You can learn more at www.horsepoweredreading.com. We are actively recruiting new Volunteers to participate in Program Development Planning and assisting with Horse Powered Reading this summer.
