January 2021 starts off with a natural disaster in simi valleyJanuary 2021 brought one of the most severe wind events to our area in recent history. This is the aftermath of the 80 mph wind gusts that blew through most of Ventura County, causing widespread damage and power outages. Luckily none of the rescue horses were seriously injured or killed when this 70 foot pine tree crashed on our paddock barely missing the barn.

aghr: a year in reviewAs this 2020 year comes to an end, the Board of Directors of Animal Guardians Horse Rescue, wish to express our gratitude for your time, support, and dedication to our cause. Over this past year, we have trained five volunteers, contracted with three new foster caregivers, and saved the lives of 12 unwanted and euthanasia-bound equines. We are proud of our accomplishments, and account much of our success to our dedicated rescue family members. Without your undying support, this last year would not have been so joyous, successful, and meaningful to the equines we work with. You are the lifeblood of our organization and we appreciate you.
Some highlights of 2020 include our completion of the Equine Welfare Grant in Natural Horsemanship Education from the Parelli Foundation. We worked with The Thibaults, 4-Star Parelli Professional Trainers to assist us in a series of personalized trainings for Apache and Tiny. We adopted out four of our beautiful rescue horses. We were successful in intervening with many cases of suffering, and fates of euthanasia or abandonment at shelters. We have saved 12 horses in one year, and assisted in the placement of three privately owned horses in need, this past year. We feel that we have been lucky. We have succeeded with online and virtual fundraising, and begun a regular Dine4Horses restaurant fundraiser program. We have begun collaborating with therapy programs to begin a wounded Veterans emotional therapy program in 2021! We have collaborated with Homes For Horses Coalition, Parelli Foundation, and more. We have received our 2020 “Top Charities” badge from Great Nonprofits. And we have stayed healthy, compliant with the CDC regulations, and stayed open with modifications during this Covid-19 pandemic. We Thank YOU! 2020 executive director's reportDear Friends,
I hope this note finds you in good health and spirits! Happy holidays and happy new year! This is Deborah Greene-Dellvon, the Executive Director/Founder, President on the Board of Directors of AGHR. I am very passionate about animal and equine welfare and love volunteering with AGHR. This year, I am proud to have developed a new leveled Direct Horse Care Volunteer Program, assisted with the Executive Committee, and Chaired special events. I am proud to have partnered with the Parelli Foundation, Stacked Restaurant, Blaze Pizza, and Lemonade Restaurant, as well as CoZzy Comfort Linens, Auctria Auctions, and PRC Wines International, PetPrana, LLC, and The Equine and Canine News. I am grateful to Susan Nelson Thibault and Maurice Thibault, Certified Parelli Natural Horsemanship Trainers, for their training support to our Fosters and Volunteers, and to the Parelli Foundation for their Equine Welfare Grant to pay for that. I am grateful to two large donors, as well as the Mitchell Foundation, for their support at #GivingTuesday. Overally, despite veterinary emergencies and challenges with four of our horses, this year has been very successful. I am pleased to have adopted four horses into loving homes, and to provide a permanent loving sanctuary placement for eight. Enjoy your holidays! And come see us again in 2021! With Love and Light, Deborah Greene-Dellvon, Executive Director/Founder 2020 President on the Board of Directors Animal Guardians Horse Rescue, Inc. • AGHRPresident@gmail.com • animalguardianshorserescue@gmail.com please help! Surgery is needed for our precious dolcheOur precious Dolche has been admitted into West Coast Equine Hospital on November 7, 2020. She has been bleeding profusely through a skin abscess on her abdomen and is suspected to have her intestine stuck to her stomach wall causing possible rupture and leakage of waste. She is scheduled for surgery on Thursday, November 12 and we need to raise $3500 to cover this cost. If she survives the surgery, she will need a month of stall confinement while she recovers, pain medication, and lots of additional pine shavings. The rescue will also need additional volunteer support to help keep the stall clean and sterile and tend to her and Bullseye, her partner pony, whom is also in the stall 18 to 20 hours per day for Sidewinders Syndrome. Please help us raise funds to save Dolches life. Thank you.
