Volunteers with Integrin Touch Therapy spent the day with our Director on 1/24/26 working with these 2 abandoned horses in Goleta to prepare them for Vet care and Trailer loading. We were able to successfully get them handled after 7 months locked in a stall, and get them loaded and moved to RawHyde Rescue, who later adopted them out. This was a physically and financially exhausting endeavor, but well worth it to get Jasper and Farrah to safety and a new life. We thank Integrin Touch Therapy and FPH Transport for helping us get these horses where they needed to be. Oct. 1 - Oct. 31, we are running a contest! The first 10 racers who join Team AGHR win a tour of our beautiful horse sites! The first 3 racers who meet their fundraiser goal of $300 win a rescue shirt! The first racer who finds 5 more racers to join our team wins an Amazon gift card, compliments of AGHR! All racers win a race shirt and incentive prizes, even those who do the "couch potato" race from home! Join us for this super fun event! Make an impact! www.racefortherescues.org/teams/6005 "Lucy" was surrendered to the Lancaster Animal Shelter after a cruelty investigation. The Shelter did not know why she was not gaining weight. After working with the Shelter and Dr. David Ramey, she had an endoscopy and it was discovered that this 1 year old yearling filly has a cleft palate. She was put into the "Rescue Pull On Medical Waiver" list. We were not sure if "Lucy" would be able to thrive / survive, but Dr. Ramey gave us hope. This sweet young filly will make a come-back with careful feeding and rehab. She joined our Rescue Family on 8/29/25, avoiding euthanasia at the County Shelter. "Lucy" drips some water and feed from her nostrils, but not significantly. She is very much a brave and willing young filly with her whole life ahead of her. "Lucy" is fostered in Agua Dulce with a very experienced Parelli Natural Horsemanship home. She needs a Sponsor. Please help us bring this baby to her full potential! The Project Aims to Transform the Shelter System through Innovative Programs and Services.
We have been selected to be a Partner Organization of the Human Animal Support Services (HASS) project. This international coalition is designed to transform the animal sheltering system with innovative solutions and unite with human service organizations to support both people and shelter equines in need. Recognizing a desperate need for horse owner support and social services, organizations across the country came together to create HASS by reimagining a welfare system that solved pet and people problems alike. By embracing four distinctive pathways, Animal Guardians Horse Rescue, Inc. will provide a range of services and solutions to better support the people and companion equines of Simi Valley, CA. These include services that expand the shelter’s capacity for care within communities and address key issues horse owners face daily such as economic hardship, access to critical veterinary and farrier care or housing-related challenges. Animal Guardians Horse Rescue, Inc. is among an elite group of more than 400 progressive animal welfare industry professions to become partner organizations. HASS also actively collaborates with top industry leaders such as the Humane Society of the U.S., Shelter Animals Count, National Animal Care & Control Association and more. We are so happy to become a part of this unique coalition for rescues and equine owners, to better help in assisting shelter horse placement in forever companion homes!
